"Ripcord" tells affectionately and humorously the story of two old ladies forced to share close quarters at a senior living facility, their difficult room-sharing and yet harder coming to good terms with each other. The temperaments of Abby and Marilyn are as opposing as the moon and the sun, as sadness and joy, as grief and joie de vivre. It is only a funny and intriguing bet the two cohabitants make that would settle the score. Still, the two roommates have a long way to go before the end of their story, facing predicaments and shockers involving their grown-up children.

This is David Lindsay-Abaire’s second play staged at the National Theatre following Good People premiered in 2015.
