Maria Stefanova

Graduated from the Academy of Theatre and Film Arts in 1960 in the class of Moys Beniesh. She has worked in the Drama theatre in Vratsa, Sava Ognianov Drama theatre in Rousse, N.O. Massalitinov Drama theatre in Plovdiv. She joined the troupe of the National theatre in 1972. She has been awarded theHonoured Artist” and "People’s Artist" titles. She has more than 200 theatrical roles and more than 50 roles in cinema. She is known for her roles in the feature films "Yesterday", "The Golden Era", "The Past Master", "All Is Love", "Monday Morning", "Fondling 13", "Ljubimets 13".

Maria Stefanova’s first role on professional stage was in Lessing’s play "Emilia Galotti" in Vratsa theatre. Then followed her roles in the Rousse and Plovdiv theatres, where she has played for 10 years. All these roles and her work with the theatre directors have become her second theater university. In Plovdiv she has worked with the directors Hristo Hristov, Panteley Panteleev, Lyuben Groyss, Krikor Azarian. She has played Nastasia Filiapovna in "Idiot", Nia in "The Prespa Bells", Katherina in "Taming of the Shrew", Kostanda in "Mother in Law".
