Deyan Donkov

Graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts "Kr. Sarafov" (NATFA) in 1997 in the class of Prof. Krikor Azaryan. He debuted in the role of Soleniy in "Three Sisters" by A. Chekhov at the Sofia Theatre. He played on the stages of the Little City Theatre "Off the Channel", the Theatre-Laboratory Sfumato, the Vazrajdane Theatte, Tears and Laughter theatre, the Aleko Konstantinov State Satirical Theatre in the productions: "Love’s Labour’s Lost" by William Shakespeare, "Love in Madagascar" by Peter Turrini, "Dangerous Connections" by Choderlos de Laclos, "The Karamazov Brothers" by Dostoevsky, "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare, "Platonov" by A. Chekhov. He has significant and successful roles on the stage of the Bulgarian Army Theatre in "A Lot of Fleas" by Boyan Papazov, "Troilus and Cressida" by William Shakespeare, "Meteor" by Friedrich Durrenmatt.

Since 2003 he has been in the troupe of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, where his more notable roles are: Belyaev in "A Month In The Country" by Ivan Turgenev, Othello in "Othello" and Kent in "King Lear" by William Shakespeare, Don Juan in the eponymous piece of Molière, the Mantis in "Beethoven 21" by Konstantin Iliev, Ivanov in "Ivanov" and Lopakhin in "The Cherry Orchard" by A. Chekhov, Cyrano in "Cyrano de Bergerac" by Edmond Rostand, Jean in "Miss Julia" by August Strindberg, Boril in "The Trial Against The Bogomils" by Stefan Tsanev, Hector Husshbay in the "Heartbreak House" by Bernard Shaw, McMurphy in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Ken Kesey, Caligula in "Caligula" by Albert Camus, Richard in "The Lover" by Harold Pinter, Dimitry Karamazov in "The Brothers Karamazov".

He has won numerous awards, among which: the ASKEER Award 2011 for the role of Cyrano in "Cyrano de Bergerac", the ASKEER Award 2010 for the role of Lopakhin in "Cherry Orchard", the ASKEER Award 2007 for Don Juan, the ASKEER Award 2004 for a supporting role for Beliaev in "A Month In The Country", the Icarus Award 2003 for the best male role for Platonov, the Icarus Award 2001 for Lazarus in "The Very Own of Fleas", the ASKEER Award 1999 for a rising star for Valmont in "Dangerous Connections". He has a nomination for the Icarus Award 2023 for Leading Male Role for the role of Orpheus in "Orpheus" by Jernej Lorenci.
