And who doesn't like to laugh?
"Golemanov" by St. L. Kostov is among the most popular Bulgarian plays. Written almost 100 years ago, it appears again and again on the theatre playbill. Viewers seem to know what they are going to see, but they go to see it again. It must be so, because a good comedy, in this case a political satire, meets them with a theme that is always present in their lives, but from its funny side. And who doesn't like to laugh?
The task we set for ourselves with our performance is that this laughter should not be a mockery of a bystander, but should turn everyone's gaze to himself, that irony should turn into self-irony because the desire for power is inherent in man, it motivates his actions and leads it. Where it will take him is a matter of maturity and preserved purity.
That's why we don't judge the characters but look around at them in the hope of understanding them in order to understand ourselves. Laughter helps us discover and accept the truth more easily, it purifies and heals.
